Balance and Lead and Follow Keys.

This is the only way that can make dancing with you a wonderful experience. Without good balance there cannot be good leading an following, there cannot be relaxation either and as a consequence enjoying a dance becomes really difficult.

Without good leading and following you will lose the connection with your partner and people who dance with you might lose interest. Women become slower and heavier, men become clumsier and nobody wants anybody as a partner.

This is the time to maximize your chances! After many years of studying we have seen the progress of the concept of lead and follow. 85 % of the students who come to our classes, regardless of their level, have problems with their balance and their lead. It is not easy to move on to the next level if these concepts are still loose ends.

Streched bended legs ? Tense or relaxed arms ? knees that go separate or together ? high or low heels ? runners or shoes ? Should I lead with my torso, shoulders, arms ? Should I follow the man's torso? How do I know whether I am doing it ok ? these are some of the questions that students bring to my class once and again. The main purpose of this workshop is to help you answer all these questions we mentioned above.

The key to achieve balance. More advanced technique and exercises.

How to apply all this in a sequence while dancing

Workshop 2

How to add volcadas and colgadas in traditional dancing and how to apply it on social dance?

Colgadas and volcadas are some of the new moves of Argentine Tango. Their gracefulness and beauty make people want to add them in their dance style. Regardless of people's style, everyone wants to enjoy volcadas and colgadas.

Unfortunately, many teachers have copied volcadas and colgadas from videos or they took classes with teachers who did not really know they technique for each of these moves.

It can be frustrating and even dangerous to do colgadas and volcadas without a precise technique. Many people who are used to social dancing find it difficult to include volcadas and colgadas in their dance. So, why do we do them ? This is a frequent question and we will try answer it in this workshop:

This workshop includes:

  • how to start and finish colgadas and volcadas
  • 10 different combinations of traditional moves with colgadas and volcadas
  • 3 requirements to do volcadas and colgadas in social dancing
  • One to one corrections

Workshop 3

What's new ?

New elements and trends in Argentine Tango.

In this workshop you will learn about the latest trends in this dance. Every year techniques are revised and changed completely. For example, boleos have been taught in about 5 different ways in the last 10 years. Moreover, in the past there existed only 2 or 4 types of boleos. Today we can enjoy more than a dozen of them.

New tendencies bring motivation and contribute to change this fantastic dance. They make us want to dance more and more. Have fun, investigate, try and play constitute important ingredients to learn this dance. That's how, at the very beginning to tango, men used to get together in their neighborhoods and they tried and discovered new steps and moves and the same happened today whenever we discover new ways to dance tango.

If you want to know the latest trends in Argentine tango, or if you feel you dance always in the same way and you want to progress… this is the time to take action. We look forward to seeing you in our workshop.

Here you will learn:

  • Rotating and twisting moves
  • Rotating ganchos; combinations with new colgadas
  • Paradas and sostenidas with your hands.
  • Change of embrace for volcadas, colgadas, ganchos and sacadas.

Workshop 4

3 Styles

This workshop will give you an insight into the different tangos styles.

What can we get from milonguero style ? What can we get from tango salon ? What would you like to know from new tango ?

When I started dancing tango I always thought about these questions. First I tried one side and I tried traditional tango, I also tried canyengue and I even had my first ballet with this style. New tango seemed to me quite untidy, milonguero style seemed boring. Eventually I ventured into the new tango and when I got tired of it I realized I had to go back to the flavor of traditional tango again. Today, I can say I enjoy every style, i.e., I enjoy tango as a unique expression of art.

What is important to achieve this is to discover the wonder of each part, each style. It is also a process of growing up. It is common that when we start dancing we choose one style and we stick to it, however, life takes us to different places and if we are able to appreciate the good side of it then we will enjoy all the different styles we have learnt.

I guarantee the best way to spot a beginner is when he introduces himself by saying he dances with a closed embrace, or with an open embrace, or that he only dances social dancing.

Last year I was with a great master of Argentine Tango who is a specialist in traditional tango, he has been dancing for 50 years now and he has been traveling the world teaching this dance. He came once and he said to me : “ Claudio, I want to learn how to do a volcada”, I thought that was fantastic, a true master.

In this workshop you will find the possibility of understanding and learning:

  • the best of traditional tango
  • the best of milonguero style
  • the best of new tango
  • how to combine and enjoy everything!
